Crabs and Cops…It’s Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

It’s Tuesday and the Random Tuesday Thoughts are taking over my blog reader. Again. Go to Keely’s, grab the button, write a post, and leave your name with Mr. Linky. Join the fun! (If for no other reason than to keep me company.)

Just fair warning… I’m feeling a little snotty and a little snarky so forgive me in advance. Also, it’s not so much random but more of a “this weekend kinda sucked so I’m going to complain today” post. I might toss in a random thought here or there, but for the most part I’m pretty focused.

This weekend was supposed to be awesome, and it was, but for totally different reasons. My husband and I were supposed to go on a date, and we did, so yay. As you may recall, I got crabs for Mother’s Day. Well, the DH and I did not go to Joe’s for our date because I chose (yes it was my decision) to use it on someone who would enjoy the experience much more. Do you know how AWESOME it is when you say, “Honey, I won this gift card to Joe’s Crab Shack!” and he turns his nose up and asks, “Well, do they serve ANYTHING there I might eat?” Boy I was SOOOOOO excited to go there with him!

***My husband wants a tattoo of a monkey with a light saber…***

Well, the weekend did not start out as planned. The friend I chose to indulge at Joe’s had a sick baby and I thought our plans were out the door (door, window, chimney… whatever). I took her and the baby to the Children’s Emergency Department where the baby was appropriately poked, prodded, and otherwise tortured. We took the baby home and she decided to eat lunch with me after all! (SCORE!!!! The weekend is BACK ON!) We go to Joe’s, eat our calamari, drink our margaritas, eat our shrimp and mahi, watch the waiters dance. Good times! We head over to Best Buy to do a little shopping. All in all a great time.

UNTIL…..

We get off the highway and the car starts making this….. noise…. It’s been making noise for a while but it really is sounding and feeling like it’s going to explode. We knew the car was on its last leg and that it was a matter of time before it started doing this, so I’m not totally surprised. I’m inching my car along, apologizing to my friend because I won’t be able to drive her home. She knows we’ll be lucky if we make it to my house, which was considerably closer than her home at this point. THEN…. I look up in my rear view mirror and I see lights. Police lights. I’m being pulled over to boot! Tags were expired. AWESOME.

***Diet Dr. Pepper does not taste more like regular.***

No, I didn’t even try to get out of the ticket. I should have since it was the last time the car was ever being driven, but I just didn’t even try. I knew the tags were expired and so I took my medicine like a big girl. I haven’t been pulled over in TEN years. TEN! So, this was just NOT fun.

***I can’t wait for the new Harry Potter movie to come out. I know they have destroyed the book but I still want to see it!***

So, now that we don’t have to buy gas, DH and I decided to go up to Old Chicago and drink a beer in commemoration of our dead car. (We borrowed Gma-J’s car since she was staying with kids.) We also indulged in some pizza. We had an awesome waiter who told us jokes and recommended a delicious turtle cheesecake that was *drool* delicious.

We stayed in the rest of the weekend because, well, where were we going to go and how were we going to get there? Yesterday we did make it to Walmart for groceries thanks again to Gma-J who let us borrow her car so we could get groceries.

That was our fantastic weekend! Awesome huh? You know you wish you were me!

DH took the bus today, and will continue to until we get our car situation figured out. Right now, I’m OK with what’s going on. It’s going to save us money for a while.

***My eldest hates mustard.***

Happy Tuesday and don’t forget to leave your link with Mr. Linky over at Keely’s.

I'm a fan of calamari & mahi too. The mahi is what I always get at Joe's…with mango salsa, right? Yum.

DUDE. If your hubs gets that tattoo, you have to make it a Wordless Wednesday. I’ll make it my desktop wallpaper. That’s awesome.

I consider the HP movies a completely separate experience from the books.

Tell him to get teh tat on his behind… or not, I don’t think I would want to see that – but I would laugh.

SOrry about the ticket. Thank you for being awesome and helping us out – and I am sorry I have not fixed the images yet… but it does have a nice insanity of the designer look to it. ;-)

@onlyaman Don’t worry about it. Do it when you get the chance. Now that it’s basically done, I’m not as antsy as I was. Sorry about that.

@Keely Thanks. Some dude I know designed it and everything ;) I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look. I think I even heart it.

@Julie. You’re NOT helping. I’m trying to discourage this particular tattoo. We’re both (usually) firmly opposed to tattoos for the sake of them and this would be one of those things in 10 years that he would say “What did I do that for?” I read your comment to him and he was like “See? You’re the only one that would hate it.”
