He Blogs/She Blogs is so inspirational!
That it has inspired a post of my own about failed technology. Friday night was bad for us. Technology just HATED us!

Friday night, we get the Watchmen on BluRay from Blockbuster online. Pop it in and it won’t read the disc. Dammit! Ok, relax, we’ve done this before. Go to manufacturer website, find firmware (firmware, how i hate thee)update, burn update to CD-R, install on Blu-Ray, put Watchmen back in, won’t load… MUTHERF*&$ER! Put a regular DVD in, won’t load. SHIT! Clean the head, still nothing. (fire blowing outta both our ears). OK, go to Target get a can of compressed air (I hate dusting, so it’s a logical conclusion for us that perhaps it’s dirty inside). While at Target, Mr. B looks online for troubleshooting, finds a solution, still…… NOTHING! (it’s time to back away from both of us because we’re both doing the low growl of an animal about to attack) So, we have other movies we can watch, we’ll just watch something else on the kid’s DVD player (it was about to die and we pre-emptively bought a new DVD player for the kids because, well, because they’re kids and their stuff breaks) won’t EVEN turn on. So we plug in the new DVD player… everything is checked and double-checked: red screens. At this point, we’ve been trying to watch a movie for well near 2 hours! So, I say, lets just watch something downstairs on your XBox. Mr. B says OK, we go downstairs and he says, “If I have the red ring of death, I may just lose it!” Luckily for me and the XBox, it worked. The movie we watched wasn’t even worth it.
The next day we exchanged the player at Best Buy (who has the best customer service ever) and the Geek Squad gave us instructions on how to get our BluRay repaired (thank goodness for 1 year manufacturer warranties) and we exchanged the DVDs at Blockbuster! Everything ended up Happily Ever After, but for a few minutes there… we weren’t so sure!
