A Tribute: It’s On!
I am truly what you’d call a “newbie” blogger. I’ve only had a blog for about 9 months. I’ve only had readers for about 6. I’ve only been really working at my blog for about 5.
I don’t feel “new.” I feel like I’ve finally found my niche in society. “Your niche in society is in the blogosphere?” Yes. It is. Here’s why.
Since joining Twitter and really becoming involved in writing my blog and reading others’ blogs, I have found friends that are so genuine and beautiful. We all have similar life experiences even though we hail from different countries, different states, different backgrounds, different beliefs, and thoroughly different lifestyles.
Some of us homeschool, breastfeed, baby wear, cloth diaper, and stay at home full time. Some of us don’t do any of those things. Some of us enjoy being domestic and love to cook, or take pride in a clean home, or craft. Some of us burn water, is allergic to the vacuum, would never mop a floor, and thinks crafting is best left to anyone else. Some of us are women and some of us are men. Some of us have children. Some of us don’t. Some of us are politically inclined. Others would rather not vote. Hippies, Bible Thumpers, Heathens, Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Moderates, Liberals, Gay, Straight, Bi-Sexual. To us, none of this defines the beauty of each person. To this community of bloggers, there is always the quest for more.
No matter how much you try to get to this level “in the real world,” there is a barrier in the face-to-face that just doesn’t exist in the internet. There’s a freedom in anonymity. A freedom to share things that you would never share before. That freedom brings me to what inspired me to write this post.
A few weeks ago, I shared part of my story, part of my testimony here on my blog. My history of sexual abuse. If you haven’t noticed by my side bar here and on my last domain, I’m a big supporter of Violence Unsilenced. ChurchPunkMom led me to the site and after that had been gently encouraging me to share my story there (which I have submitted to Maggie and am now waiting publication). My story here is only a portion of what I share there. But my story is not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about your story.
I have read so many stories there. Then, later, I realize that these stories belong to women and men that I admire in the blog world. I had no idea how many of us has a story and how many more of us that have a story that hasn’t been shared yet. It makes me so sad to realize that there are so many beautiful people out there who have been hurt so badly. It makes me amazed when I see the people they have become today. I read their witty words and forget that they have a story! I see how much they want to help others and I am inspired and admire them all the more. (Miles to go, and all.)
I just want to say Thank You to all of you who have inspired me and accepted me, as a new blogger, as someone to be read and counted. I want to say Thank You to all of you who guide me and help me make this place, my place, a welcoming and honest place. But mostly, I want to give recognition to all you bloggers out there who have these tragedies, and have risen up out of the ashes and gone on.
This song is dedicated to you. (forgive the movie pics in it, I didn’t make the vid) I dedicate it to you because this is how I see you tackle life.

awe.. very sweet post, Lisa. welcome, again, to the blogosphere.
It’s such a beautiful pond to wade into, isn’t it?
So glad you’re here.
AWESOME POST! It is a big big place full of all types of people. We are glad you are here… what? you don’t know the secret handshake?
It is interesting, isn’t it, to learn that so many of us have suffered tragedies. I am so happy you found the blogosphere, there’s no place like it. Welcome!
